Frequently Asked Questions

What if I had multiple children attending?

Families with multiple children enrolled will only be required to pay one Registration Fee per family.

How do tuition payments work?

Tuition is paid by Pre-Authorized Debit.

Pre-Paid June Deposit: A deposit fee for the last month’s tuition will be debited on either:

This will eventually cover your tuition for the last month of June.

Remainder of Tuition:

  • Nine monthly payments (Sept–May, on the 1st of the month).

If my child is away on vacation, am I still required to pay tuition?

Yes, tuition is still required to keep your child’s spot secured.

What sets Montessori apart from other schools?

At Montessori, we teach children according to their individual stage of development, rather than strictly by age. We progress at a pace that suits each child—moving slower when needed and advancing more quickly once mastery is achieved. This approach ensures that no child is left behind or becomes bored.

Montessori students take ownership of their learning, developing critical thinking skills, creativity, independence, and self-confidence. Through hands-on materials, abstract concepts are made understandable, allowing children to build knowledge through experience rather than rote memorization. They also learn that mistakes are part of the learning process and gain strategies to problem-solve independently.

Our program provides children with the tools to become lifelong learners, fostering a positive attitude toward learning while offering the reassurance of support whenever needed.

What can a child expect during a typical day at Montessori Alberta?

When children first join Montessori Alberta, we use a staggered entry approach to help them gradually feel comfortable and secure in the classroom environment. On their first day, children typically stay for a minimum of one hour. Each day thereafter, teachers observe the child and determine the appropriate length of time for their stay.

On a typical day, children greet their teachers with a handshake, remove their shoes and jackets, and place their belongings on their coat racks. They then select work they have previously been introduced to and practice independently, with teachers providing new lessons and materials as the child is ready.

If challenges arise during work time, children can use the peace table to resolve conflicts or take a break, and a snack table is available for children who are hungry. Depending on the schedule and age, children participate weekly in enrichment classes such as Spanish, French, and music. They also engage in activities like baking and crafts, with each day concluding with circle time, either indoors or outdoors.

For full-day students, this routine continues in the afternoon following lunch and recess, allowing children to further develop independence, focus, and social skills throughout the day.

What happens after I complete registration?

The office will review your registration, and you will receive confirmation within 10 days. If any information is missing, you will be notified along with links to complete the registration.

Two weeks prior to your child’s first day, you will receive a School Start Package, which includes the Parent Handbook, school calendar, staggered entry information, a conversational tool, and details for the “Meet the Teacher” session.
