From the first open house, it was clear that Montessori Alberta is very well-organized and thoughtfully managed. Having toured several preschool programs, including other Montessori and Montessori-inspired schools, Ms. Celine and Ms. Sophia stood out with their presentation of the school’s philosophy and approach.
While my child was attending both a traditional daycare/preschool and Montessori Alberta concurrently, the difference became quite apparent. Although both environments were nurturing, it was Montessori Alberta that helped my child become more independent and less shy. We have Ms. Celine and Ms. Sophia to thank for this positive development.
What I really appreciate is how every child demonstrates independent behaviors while being well-integrated into social situations. This combination will make it much easier for these children when they transition to other classes and grade school in the future.
My child is moving to FFCA for kindergarten, and I genuinely wish we could keep them here for one more year. Looking at the FFCA kindergarten curriculum, my child is already about halfway through it. They can sound out all letters, read 3-4 letter words, write with a pen, sit still and pay attention, count to 100, and do basic addition and subtraction – all while still in pre-K. Much thanks to all the teachers for this strong foundation.
The parent-teacher interviews were excellent. We really got a clear sense of how my child was progressing with the materials and how they were interacting with other children. The feedback during these interviews was particularly helpful in shaping what to focus on teaching my child at home as well.
The school also offers nice extra-curricular activities including Spanish/French classes, music classes, photo shoots, field trips, camps, and other engaging activities.
A heartfelt thank you to all the teachers: Ms. Celine, Ms. Sophia, Ms. Kayla, Ms. Vanessa, Ms. Yoyo, and anyone I may have missed due to my imperfect memory.
This is an easy recommendation if you’re looking for Montessori-style teaching, but even if you’re not, it’s well worth considering.
Montessori Alberta has been a wonderful experience for our children. The growth we have seen from our 2 kids have been incredible not only in their skills but also socially. We have seen their confidence shine and fostered by all the teachers there. Are children are always happy and look forward to seeing their teachers and friends. We will be sending our 3rd when they turn 3.
Our daughter spent 2 years at Montessori Alberta with Ms. Celine, Ms. Sophia, and Ms. Angela. Our daughter learned so much at this school and it has really given her a lot of confidence in Grade 1. I am quite surprised to see some of the previous reviews but I’ll comment with specifics to help any parents considering sending their children here.
– Focus – My first experience with Montessori Alberta was in 2019 when we had a school tour. I was amazed to see 15 kids sitting on the mat all listening to Ms. Celine read to them. Ms. Celine has a way with children that really keeps them focused.
-Adaptable – 2020-2022 was a hard time for schooling for all families but Ms. Celine was able to keep the school safe, keep the parents informed, and keep the kids learning every single day. When our daughter had to miss school for a few weeks, they made efforts to include her via Google Meet which was a wonderful way for my daughter to stay included.
-Nurturing – Each of the teacher’s here have such a wonderful way of knowing what a child needs. They really gave my daughter the push she needed but also gave her the space to grow. At each of our parent teacher interviews, we got specific and concrete feedback on how our daughter could improve and areas where she was already strong.
-Community – The community of parents that bring their kids here is just wonderful and this speaks to the strength of the school and how it fosters that network. Even though our daughter is in grade 1 and all of her previous classmates are now in different schools, the parents still meet up and the kids still play together!
In summary, I have nothing but great things to say about Montessori Alberta. My son is not quite old enough to go but the moment that he is, I am sending him there!
Montessori Alberta has been a truly special place for our daughter. She is grown more confident, independent, and happy. The teachers are kind and nurturing, and their thoughtful approach helps her feel seen, supported, and excited to learn. We are so grateful for the positive impact this school has had on her growth and well-being.
Montessori Alberta is incredible. The community that the teachers foster is very special. They empower each child to be self-sufficient, responsible, thoughtful and kind. The literacy that was developed in our child’s years there was also remarkable. What a wonderful place to foster the early years!
I am giving this review strictly to Miss Celine, the new director of the school. She started as lead teacher late last fall and has been an absolute ray of sunshine at Alberta Montessori Ltd. My daughter instantly connected with her. The news that Celine is the new director of the school is going to mean wonderful things for this little school. She has a clear understanding of the Montessori Method and treats the children with a respect, and sincere kindness that was previously lacking.
My child started at this school recently. I am amazed at the difference I see in him already! He has a fantastic teacher who is also new and he can’t wait to get to school! All in all, I believe he is having and a positive and fulfilling montessori experience!
